First Reflexive Essay

For the most part, research begins with a question or a problem and is directed toward a specific need. Next the research and observations are collected to form more ideas. This may result in further questions. With observations may come false information, which then results in unreliable conclusions. It is important for researchers to gather more information that they need and to test all of the variables to come to the most accurate conclusion.

Often times poor research provides learners with false information. How is a learner supposed to know if the research is valid? How is a learner is supposed to know which information is accurate if various researchers give conflicting results.

Research seems to be reliable until it is proven incorrect. How will we know what research needs to be reviewed and how will we know that the new method or answer is the best one? When formal studies are done with educational technology, what type of classroom setting are they generally based on? With various classroom environments how would one know what educational technology strategies are best for them and their class?

What are the steps a learner should take to be sure that the information they are using is the most accurate? With this how can a learner know that the information they gathered is in fact the correct information? Is it possible that different answers can still be correct? Can the negative results of research on educational technology be changed through improvements?

Second Reflective Essay

Over the last few weeks I learned a lot about research studies. They begin with an idea or interest then studies about that idea are researched. It is good to get a variety of articles about studies to get a variety of input and results. By using a variety of research studies the accuracy of information is more reliable because it can be confirmed with other studies. If the studies are properly done then the results should be somewhat similar, depending on the variables used for each. This is why it is important to include the methods used and the variables that may have caused and variation in possible results. This will help to provide readers with similar results when applying the technology in their own classroom.

I have found that not all research present the intended or desired results. However, this may be because studies that aren’t successful aren’t reported as much as successful studies. This makes it difficult for those who are writing research on that subject because they aren’t presented with the appropriate negative information. It is still good to present information on studies that may not have turned out as desired. This will inform the reader of methods that may not have the positive outcome that is desired. This will prevent many headaches and time wasted on trying something that may not be the best.

I have found that when researching technology it is often more difficult to find information on the newer technologies because not many studies have been done to provide information to write about. This may prevent researchers from incorporating these newer technologies into their classroom right away.

It is always good to check the sources used in research studies. This will help to validate the information they researched and ensure there was no misinterpretation of the study and the information presented is in fact accurate.
